In the UK alone, there are more than 100,000 strokes each year and 1.2 million people currently living with the after-effects. This costs the UK approximately £30 billion each year. Carotid atherosclerotic disease alone -due to accumulation of fatty deposits in the carotid artery wall— is responsible for approximately one third of the tally. Clearly, the development of a fully automated solution for integral head and neck analysis could have a profound impact on the clinical pathway of large numbers of patients worldwide. In this seminar, Dr Acosta-Cabronero, Director of Imaging Technology at Tenoke Healthcare, will walk us through the main challenges of developing algorithms for clinical routine use, with a particular focus on the imaging technologies developed at Tenoke to predict and monitor strokes and heart attacks.
